2024.10.1.303Description
This is a letter dated 08/07/1881 from Mother Rebecca Hubbard Wetmore to Samuel C Gray in Benicia. She starts out by offering to buy the wooded land that was left to Lucy Wetmore Gray (Samuel's wife) by Lucy's father. She offers to pay $700 plus to forgive three months interest on the note she holds against Samuel Gray. (That note would then be $2,000.)
She then talks of family matters. She says she has heard that Dr. Edward Gray and his family are back in Benicia and are headed to Camp Gaston, a military installation to practice medicine. She asks about Mrs. Colton, Harriet (Wetmore Jones) and says she had a letter from Walter. She wishes that Arthur would find something he likes to do and earn his living. She mentions Lewis and his sons.
