2024.10.1.349Description
This is a letter dated 06/04/1891 from Mrs. Mary Gray Morton to her brother Mr. Samuel C. Gray regarding mainly travel matters. She talks of the trips they have taken or plan to take and also comments on his travel plans. She does not think he will find very many relatives or friends to visit outside of Middletown and Baltimore as many have passed away.
At the start of the letter Mary talks of William Pittman (1844 - 1915) (her sister Emily's son) saying that Mr. Woodruff tried to meet with Mr. Comstock and settle the estate, but Mr. Comstock was unavoidably detained. Mary suggests to Samuel that it may be a while before the estate is settled.
(Emily Pittman's Last Will & Testament shows a Mr. Albert C. Comstock as a witness. This may be the Comstock mentioned in the letter. The Will also bequeaths Samuel $50 to cover her costs of his prosecuting a Texas land claim and gives Mary her hair bracelet and a book.)
