Description

This is a letter dated 05/02/1892 from Mr. Edward Powers Gray to Mr. Samuel C. Gray regarding mainly investment matters. Edward is still in Florida and gets Samuel's letter forwarded to him. Samuel has offered to let Edward invest in some business proposal that may be risky. Edward declines as he feels he must be careful with his money for the sake of his family. He then tells Samuel that he is a great accountant but should not burden himself with heavy responsibilities, involving the welfare of many others. Edward complains that he is going deaf and can't get medical help because it is too far away in Tampa, FL. At the end of the letter, he mentions a California earthquake that he thinks isn't alarming to the natives. (See articles below. One is the report in a Florida newspaper and the other from Solano news. The earthquake was a very major event to cities in Solano county.)
