Wright's Pictorial Family Almanac 1856 is a booklet of about 25 pages of miscellaneous information.
Dr Wright's note on the third page reads:
Presenting to the public my pictorial almanac for 1856, affords me the pleasure of again greeting my old friends. Knowing, that in order to meet the wants and wishes of this progressive age, improvements must be apparent in every production. I have endeavored to make this year's Almanac more useful and entertaining than its predecessors--unusual attention has been paid to the calculations, which are believed to be correct and reliable, the calendars are clear and distinct, the embellishments attractive, and a general matter combines amusement with instruction, while the very pretty song, entitled "Bonnie Bessie Gray," will be an acceptable addition to most young ladies' music portfolios. The greatest care has been taken to render it thoroughly fitted for family use, and its general adoption is confidently hope for, and will be esteemed as the best evidence of success. For the long continued and constantly increasing patronage which my medicines have received, I return my sincere thanks, and it is a source of deep gratification to me to learn that they are as widely useful, as they are extensively purchased. A page is devoted to each month of the year with various extra information such as 'The Deluge began 2348 B.C.' during the month of November. A note for March 9th tells us 'the moon is near Uranus'.
Various endorsements and testimonials espouse the virtues of Dr. Wright's medicines. A caution on the back page warns of counterfeits to Dr Wright's Indian Vegetable Pills.Collection
