The Mirror of Literature, Amusement, and Instruction. A sixteen page booklet dated Saturday, April 11, 1840 consisting of short stories, sketches, and poems. Printed by J. Limbind 143, Strand (near Sumersat House)
This is their 1000 issue and a proud editorial is printed on the back page telling us that the first issue was printed November 2, 1822,
A statement in part: -- Gratifying is the reflection, that the pages of The Mirror have been the means of nurturing youthful talent, by introducing their effusions to the notice of its numerous readers; among them may be named the late Miss Beevor, Mr. Carter, and also others who feel a repugnance in having their names made public.
