This is a handbill for erecting a new school house in Benicia in 1882. This was the form used by contractors to bid on the contract to build a new school house on block 39 in Benicia. Each bid had to include a check for $500 payable to the School Trstees clerk, A. Dalton. The form was printed on the back of part of a poster for some event probably in Vallejo, CA. May have been a fight being promoted.
note: block 39 is between East 3rd and 4th and "J" and "K". This is where the old grammar school was located.Collection
