Match holder - ceramic with matte finish On one side is the Coat of Arms of the University of Oxford in England: A dark blue shield with three crowns and an open book with the lettering: DOMI MINA / NUS TIO / ILLV MEA = "The Lord is my Light" motto of the University; On the bottom: A.F.C. above the maker's mark: Blue five-point crown with T T C Inside a circle; the number 6351 is beneath the mark That is the mark for Taylor Tunnicliffe & Co. of England. It was founded in 1875 and used this mark until 1898. The holder is 3-1/2" in diameter and 3" high; There is a 1-1/4" deep x 1-1/4" across hole in the top which is glazed inside. The owner or group who used the item is unknown.
