Journal of Norma Goettel, 1924 - "My Travels"
It was used to document her travels from Cleveland Ohio to Frisco (sic), Cal. However, she only wrote in the journal until they arrived in Portland, Oregon. There is no indication of why she stopped writing. The trip began on July 2nd 1924 and the writing suspended on August 4th 1924. She mostly commented on the camps they stayed in and the problems with the car needing constant repairs. It appears there were about 5 - 6 individuals in the traveling group - Norma, her mother, her son Philip, Uncle Cal and two others. Included are a number of listings relating to travel: postage rates, time differences between cities, distances, foreign currency, sea travel, points on the compass. There is also an alphabetical section in the back for names - addresses - phone numbers. It has a home-made red, construction paper cover, as the original cover is missing. The pages are edged in gold paint.Collection
