Description

Pre 1948 WWII Navy Jumper - Upper portion of a Navy Uniform - Pharmacist's Mate, Petty officer Second Class undress blue uniform jumper. On left sleeve is rating insignia with an eagle in white and a red Geneva Cross representing the medical field at the time and the two red chevrons indicate he is an E-5 or Petty Officer Second Class. The "hash mark" on the lower part of the sleeve indicates four years of service. Navy Blue Wool; pocket on left breast. The white label on the back under the flap reads: Manufactured by Naval Clothing Factory, Name E.A. Fleugher, Rate HAle. In 1948 the designation was changed to Hospital Corpsman with a new mark (caduceus). At some point this uniform was washed and has shrunk but it is valued for the rating badge.
