This is a first edition of a book of Civil War photographs discovered in the Medford, MA Historical Society attic. The prints are made from original albumen prints. The entire collection contains about 5,400 prints that have never been made public. The photographs had been ammased by Gen. Samuel Crocker Lawrence, commander of the Lawrence Light Guard and later mayor of Medford.
A large number of the photographs are not attributed to a specific photographer.Collection
