This ledger was used by Frank H. Wassmann and Walter G Wassmann to keep track of the estate of their uncle Gottlob Frederick Gall (1848-1909). Gottlob died in 1909 and is buried in the Benicia City Cemetrey with his sister Louisa (1940) and brother William (1923).
The Wassmann brothers came to live with the Benicia Gall's at an early age. Frederick ran a butcher shop which was latter taken over by Walter Wassmann.
The ledger spans such a long period because part of Gottlob's will stated that payments should be made to hs sister, Louisa Gall, monthly for the rest of her life and then any remainder to his sister Caroline Gerni at the death of Louisa.
The ledger contains many loose letters and statements related to the administration of the estate. A few are attached to this record.Collection
