Scope and Content

Ledger with cover label: "Constitution and By-Laws of Solano Lodge No.22 I.O. of O.F. Benicia" There is a secondary label (possibly added by the Museum for a past exhibit) that states the Constitution and By-Laws were written by J. Francis Demming in 1854. It was instituted April 8, 1854. The ledger is hand written. Besides the Constitution and By-Laws it contains "Order of Business", "Rules of Order" and signatures of the members including information on their residence (mostly Benicia but names from other cities appear later), their age at the time, occupation and when they were admitted to the group. In the back are lists of the members and the "degrees" they attained in their membership. It covers years between 1854 and 1878. see notes regarding donation
