This item comes from a loan by Solano Lodge #22 in Benicia to the museum. The items were on loan for several years even after the closing of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Benicia. The loan is now being returned to the Grand Lodge IOOF of California. The returned items will be housed in their museum in San Jose. Several items from the loan were donated to BHM as a gift. This is one of those items. In addition, BHM was able to include in our collection scans on a few of the pages from the Odd Fellows ledgers before they were returned to the Grand Lodge.
This is a "Black List" ledger used by the Odd Fellows to list those members that have been expelled, suspended, rejected or reinstated throughout Northern California. This book is written by hand whereas in later years printed lists of such members were sent to the various lodges for groups over all of the U.S.
Only a few names were from the Solano Lodge # 22 located in Benicia.
