Scope and Content

This is a ledger from 1859 for the cities of Vallejo and Benicia. It contains assessments of property (real and personal) of all individuals in the two cities and some county property between the two cities. One page shows the taxes levied by the Solano County Board of Supervisors for 1859 by specific levy. It shows: General County Purposes .50 State purposes .60 Schools .10 Roads .05 Interest on County bonds .10 Court House funds .50 Total 1.85 This is followed by an alphabetized list of all tax payers. Following this is the list of individuals in Vallejo. For each tax payer it shows: name description of all property value of realestate value of personal property Vallejo township starts at page 3 (page 1 and 2 have been cut out). Benicia township starts at page 70.
