This is a ledger showing Benicia blocks and land owners. The block is shown on the top of the page and land owners and their lot number are listed in the left hand column. Semple's Slip is a special situation in that it exceeds the 16 lots normally found in each block. It has lots numbered up to 37.
Block 20 lot 12 shows City Hall (1st and G street). The building was finished 01/03/1853. City Hall was deeded to the State of Califonia when the Capitol moved here 02/01/1853. The State left 03/06/1854 and the building reverted back to the City. This ledger must have been made after 03/1854.
There is also a piece of a letter from Moses Hopkins loose in the book that is dated 06/09/1856. (This looks like a scrap of paper used as a bookmark.)
