This is a facsimile of a historic letter having to do with the discovery of gold in California. It was a series put out by the Book Club of California in December of 1948. We have seven of at least a series of 12.

This one is letter 10 from Rodman M Price to Thomas O. Larkin dated 10/18/1848. Mr. Price is the US Naval Agent and is writting to tell that he is coming to California on the mail steamer leaving Panama for Monterey. He also mentions that the 2nd Regiment Infantry will sail in two months for California. He speculates on the number of men to head to California in the Spring. He said he wouldn't be surprised if it reached 100,000.Collection
