Scope and Content

Glenklein Septr 27th 1880 Dear sister, I now sit down to answer your welcome letter, and was very sorry to hear of your illness but I trust you will be better now. I have been very ill myself with rheumatism in my shoulders and arms, but indeed every bit of me is infected. I was at Portstewart one week and got shower baths which has relieved me a little. I would have written sooner, only waiting to see if the salt water would do me any good; and for James thank god he is quite well. only when he would get cold, he would have a slight attack of rheumatism yet. Dear sister you mention in your letter about Mrs. Gould, when you write her you can address to Mrs. Mayberry and she will get it alright; we had them both with us the night he won the chosen, it is likely you will know what that means. when we finished cutting the corn, they both wish to be remembered to you. Dear sister we have a railway now from ___ to Magherafeth it runs past our house, there is a situation at Patterson's old place if you were over here now you would searcely know it but Dear sister if it is not our lot to meet in this world I hope he will meet in that better place where parting will be no more. Mrs. Mayberry has got an addition to her family another little son she calls him Alexander and Mrs. Leney a little daughter she calls her Anna ___, Mrs. Milese and her family are all well. Dear sister we have had a very hot summer the hottest has been for some years, the crops are all very good, but trade is keeping dull, There has been a good many sudden deaths Jenny McGrlain that is Gray's widow and old Margaret Gray sends her love to you your friends in the county Antrein James Boyd, Mary Jane, and Lettia all living together and well and wishes to be remembered to you I must draw a close with kind love to Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun and family and a particular share to yourself.
