This is a letter from Chief of Ordnance in Washington D.C. to Captain Charles P. Stone. It talks about how their letters may have crossed and thereby caused some confusion about what the Chief of Ordnance meant in his previous letter. He clarifies that he wanted to avoid going to U.S. District Court to clear the title to the Benicia Arsenal land and instead get Larkin, Phelps, and Semple to clear their title of April 1849.Collection
