Letter dated July 2, 1938 to Mr. Hall McAllister from Violet Mohr
"Dear Mr. McAllister:
Allow me at this time the priviledge of writing you and explaining my purpose of writing to one whom I have never had the pleasure of knowing. Although I have heard many nice things about you and possibly that is why I take this advantage. I have learned you were at one time a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church and very sorry to say the church at present is much in need of repairs and I am trying very hard to raise some money for the repair work and in so doing I have been sewing for two and one half months making a complete wardrobe for a large beautiful doll, she has twenty complete outfits or if counted separately would be sixty pieces. I am selling tickets on the doll at 25 cents a piece and she will be raffled off next month.
I do hope you won't disagree to raffles for church affairs. Something had to be done and I for one surely wants to see the church repaired. The steeple was fixed a few months ago and costed $200.00 but it really looks lovely. Would you be willing to purchase some tickets from me to help our church. I would appreciate it so very much. I have been the collector for St. Pauls church for one year and I am really working had but need help so I am writing to all I hear of who at one time belongs to our church.
Hoping to hear from you very soon and I assure you it will be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully Mrs. Violet Mohr"
