Donor was the wife of the grandson of Mariano Vallejo.
The image shows a handwritten letter in Spanish, dated "Benicia Febrero 6 de 1850," addressed to "Muy querida Mamá." The writer, identified as Andronico Vallejo, mentions sending fifty pounds of sugar and a bundle of coriander, leaving Benicia by steamboat at ten in the evening. Additionally, the letter includes warm greetings and well-wishes to Aunt Juanita and another person named Absalon, concluding with "un abrazo muy fuerte" (a very strong hug).
