This is a letter from Bishop Wingfield, of St. Augustine's College, to the commander of the Benicia Arsenal on Feb. 13th, 1889. The commander is listed in the header but I don't recognize the name. (A list of Arsenal Commanders shows either Silas Aspin or William A Marye as Commander in 1889.)
The letter is asking that a worker at the Arsenal make a chair as a memorial to one of the professors who died at St. Augustines the previous year. The worker, George W. Pringle, previously made the alter at St. Paul's church and Wingfield is asking that he now make a memorial chair.
The letter is written on the back of a St. Augustine's College flyer. It talks about the training at the college and the prices.Collection
