This is letter from a man named Rush who is stationed in Port Costa to his friend in Benicia, Raymond. (This may be Raymond Rankin since the bulk of items in this donation are from the Rankin family.). It is written on Knights of Columbus stationary.
The letter was written November 2, 1918 and tells of how the soldier Rush was able to sneak out of camp and back without being discovered. At the end he says he hopes this "epidemic" is soon over... He must be talking about the 1918 flu epidemic.
On the back in a different hand it says "letter from Rush Twesenberry World War I".Collection
