This is a letter from Briscoe G. Baldwin to Captain Charles P. Stone. Baldwin is in the Monterey Presidio. He acknowledges receipt of some supplies and then asks about the line authority of the Ordnance officers and the Monterey command.
It is interesting to note that Briscoe G. Baldwin became the Chief of Ordnance for the Confederacy under Robert E. Lee during the Civil War.Collection
