Letter written at an unknown date by Dona Benicia d 'de Vallejo. The letter is written on a lined piece of folded paper. It is in Spanish and we have a translation of the letter.
My dear Lulu,
How are you and how are you feeling? How is your Ricardo doing and the little ones? I always remember my little President. I wish I could see you all. I cannot go because I am always ill and we lack wheels to travel, you know that when we don't have what we need we can't and we should not stand among the people but I don't lose hope to go and see you all.
If you see Dela (nick name for Adela) greet her for me if you know (where) she lives the name what is it I will go … I cannot leave this place the trees are filled with ripe oranges, if I leave they will steal everything, don't be mad at me because I cannot come to see you, when I can I'll go to San Francisco.
I send you a box of oranges and a jar of olives and a cup of pear's jam. It is a lot of work to write, take care of yourself and your little ones. To my Pesillento, Pesillentitio (Childish speech for little President) I send many kisses each time you can give him.
