This is a matchbook from Wink's Cocktail Lounge in Benicia. It was owned by Joe "Winks" Gando. There is a sketch of him and short bio in the 1958 Old Timer's program (1998.017.0024).
It was at 625 First Street. The housing survey has this to say about the row of buildings at 621 -m 625 First Street:
This building was probably constructed circa 1885 as a part of a continuous row of commercial buildings and stores that spanned this entire block. According to the Sanborn 1886 map it was used as a shoe store and shoemakers salon. This is the only one of the seven original commercial row buildings that has survived.Collection
