Commemorative Medal - Army Commendation Medal
green and white cloth 1-1/2" x 1-3/8"; six-sided brass medal (each side is 7/8", 1-3/8" across and 1-1/2" top to bottom); on front: eagle with spread wings behind a shield standing on three arrows; on back: "For Military Merit" (no name in banner).
This medal was awarded to US Armed Forces personnel (excluding General Officers) having served in the US Army after December 6th, 1941 and having had distinguished themselves through heroism; meritorious achievement or like service. May be given for acts of "noncombat-related heroism", or for acts that do not fulfill the higher crieria required for the awarding of the Bronze Star.Collection
