"Our Finest Hardwood Refrigerator" started at $24.95. The 'ice box' as we refer to them today was kept cool/cold with 50 pound blocks of ice. A three piece bedroom vanity suite sold for $119.75. On the "Budget Plan", the first payment was $12.00 with monthly payments of $9.50.
Montgomery Ward issued their first catalogue in August 1872, and continued until the catalogue division merged with another company in 1968. The first retail store opened in 1926.
