Framed Fishu (aka ruffle) - a section from a dress worn by Dona Benicia Vallejo; black lace of a flower and leaf design with a scalloped edge; included are a small lithograph of Dona in an oval opening, a paper strip: "Benicia de Vallejo" in script and the lace fabric - all with a tan mat under glass in a brown wooden frame with a carved design. On the back: This piece of ruffle is from the gown of Sonora Francisca Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo after whom the City of Benicia was named in 1847. When Madie Brown, Curator of the Vallejo Home State Historical Monument in Sonoma, was in Mexico City, December 22, 1956, Senora Magdalena Frisbie de Marron, granddaughter of Senora Vallejo, gave her this cloth. Before her death on September 12, 1992, Madie Brown Emperan gave this historical memento to LeNoir Miller.
