Description

These negatives were in an envelope marked "Arsenal" and with a note asking for a 5x7" enlargement at the rate of $.35 each for seven enlargements. There is also a stamp on the front from Frank J. Stumm Publisher Benicia, California. Frank Stumm was the jeweler who published a number of postcards of the region during the early 1900s. These may be negatives from John Molfino that were considered for publishing as postcards by Stumm. This photo shows the ship the Apache. The Southern Pacific steamer Apache, long after the trains provided faster service between Sacramento and San Francisco, gave passengers a pleasant overnight boat trip. The steamers touched at many landings which could not be reached by other means.
