Description

These negatives were in an envelope marked "Arsenal" and with a note asking for a 5x7" enlargement at the rate of $.35 each for seven enlargements. There is also a stamp on the front from Frank J. Stumm Publisher Benicia, California. Frank Stumm was the jeweler who published a number of postcards of the region during the early 1900s. These may be negatives from John Molfino that were considered for publishing as postcards by Stumm. This photo shows First Street before it was paved and when we had wooden boardwalk. There are several carts/wagons parked along the street, some on the boardwalk. A ferry boat can be seen at dock in the distance. In the foreground on the right is the "G. Hong Lee Laundry". On the roof on the building on the left is an advertisement for Sen-Sen.
