These negatives were in an envelope marked "Arsenal" and with a note asking for a 5x7" enlargement at the rate of $.35 each for seven enlargements. There is also a stamp on the front from Frank J. Stumm Publisher Benicia, California. Frank Stumm was the jeweler who published a number of postcards of the region during the early 1900s. These may be negatives from John Molfino that were considered for publishing as postcards by Stumm.
This photo shows First Street in Benicia. It shows a man walking across the street and a few horse drawn carriages. On the right in the photo is the New Era newspaper/printing office, an advertisement for "Alfalfa Lands" and Quinn's groceries. On the left a garage sign can be seen.Collection
