This is a copy of an order dated 05/01/1854 from Assistant Adjutant General E.D. Townsend of the Headquarters of the Pacific in San Francisco regarding the arming of the Island of Alcatraz. The armaments required are:
6 eight inch guns
6 32 pound guns
10 32 pound guns near Fort Point
10 24 pound guns mounted on single carriages from Monterey
In addition, proper ammunition for each battery will be prepared. This will be done in conjunction with Major Barnard and the Quartermaster DEpartment (Captain C.P. Stone).Collection
