One of a series of eleven pamphlets published by The Associated Oil Company and addressed to Mr.E. B McNear. Each piece is a 9"x24" folded stock with a full page photograph plus a facing page of explanatory verbage. Ten of which involve the building of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay Bridge Both bridges commenced contruction in 1933. The eleventh pamphlet is similiar but involves the Tacoma Narrows Bridge project.
The Associated Oil Company supplied the motor oils and lubricants used by the construction equipment.
The photo is an aerial view of the Golden Gate Bridge construction looking south showing the almost completed north tower and beginnings of the south tour
The first page discusses Ayala's Return in 1775 describing "...the little packet San Carlos sailed through the Golden Gate bearing Don Juan Manuel Ayala, Lieutenant of Frigate of the Royal Spansh Navy--first of the seafaring white men to enter Vizcaino's hypothetical Bahia del Puerto de San Francisco." It then describes the present activity at the time of the photo.Collection
