A partial copy of the registration is adhered to the back of the piece of wood. The brand is a capital "M" on the left and a backward capital "S" on the right. It is used on horses, cattle and boxes. A notation at the bottom of the page: "The above brand is hereby assigned to John F. Avilla. Fairfield September 7, 1885. A. L. Sapteiro, Witness F/P.Neinmann, Co. Recorder."Collection
