Sample brand and earmarking on a piece of leather for James M. Pleasant, a true copy of the original filed May 1, 1857, is recorded in a Ledger of the Solano County Recorder 1855-1916. (page 17) In the ledger next to the original recording is a notation: "Perpetuated by personal request of W.J. Pleasants, Winters, Jan. 28th 1918. F.M. Dickey, Co. Recorder by Jos. Byrne, Deputy. Transferred to new book, page 2."
A partial copy of the original recording is adhered to the back of the leather. The brand is a capital "6 6" (lines do not touch in the middle) and placement is not indicated. The earmark is for the right ear.Collection
