Sample brand/earmarkings on pieces of leather for John F. Fay, "The Crank Brand", registered on July 24, 1858, as written in a Ledger of the Solano County Recorder 1855-1916. (page 48)
A partial copy of the original recording is adhered to the front of the leather. A piece of paper with "The Crank Brand" written in fancy lettering in blue ink is adhered to the back of the leather. The brand is what appears to be a crank handle, rounded on the ends with a straight connection section in the middle, no placement is noted. The earmarkings are indicated on a separate piece of softer leather attached to the top of the larger piece with a bent nail.Collection
