This is a photo of Walter P. Sparks (engineer) and Bill Hart (fireman) next to a train in Pinole, CA in 1943/1944. The back says they are on a siding to let Mity "Body trains" by for East Coast 4 trains. It also says something about "soldiers" "sailors" and "marines". Not sure but this could be trains carrying deceased military across from the East Coast.
In records 2017.030.0500 / 501 / 502 we have railroad overalls and a cap that may have belonged to Walter Sparks.Collection
