Description

This photo is of Tim Corcoran. There is a Corcoran family in Benicia in the 1880 Census with a son "Tim" age 8 and his 4 brothers and 2 cousins. That would mean he was born in 1872. The parents are Patrick and Mary from Ireland and he is a farmer. Other sources identify their farm as being off the current Rose drive and the house at one time called the Urban Braito house. This same person is shown in a family tree as Timothy V. Corcoran who lived around the Bay Area and died in Napa in 1916. According to this family tree he was a public official of the court living in Suisun in 1900. This could be the County Recorder shown as signing off on at least one of the brands recorded at the County Courthouse. In the Benicia Herald from 06/12/1914 there is an article (see attached) talking about T. V. Corcoran and multiple fees that he failed to record. It mentions that the incidents are being investigated and that his paychecks have been stopped to compensate for the lost receipts. It also describes Mr. Corcoran as being in a hospital and having attempted suicide. Also attached is a handwritten family tree of the Corcorans.
