A portrait of Clay Goodyear. The photo was taken by the Theo C Marceau "Fotografer" studio at 826 Market St in San Francisco.
Clay was born in 1858 in California and in the 1900 census was living on "O" street in Benicia with his mother Cynthia Vaughn Goodyear. The Curtis family tree shows Henry Clay Goodyear (1858 - 1914) as the son of Andrew Goodyear (1819-1892) and Cynthia Vaughn Goodyear (1835-1904). Andrew Goodyear was a brother to Miles Morris Goodyear, an early Benicia property owner, and the son of Andrew (1784-1819) and Patty (1782-1821) Goodyear.
Clay's father, Andrew, had a ranch outside of Benicia and built the mansion-like home at East 5th and "O" st.Collection
