B/W postcard with a photo of Jacob Adolph Jensen in his World War I uniform. On back: "Carte Postale" "Jacob Jensen / Benicia / Calif" "P.O. Box 354". With the photo was newspaper information about the murder of his father, also named Jacob Jensen. Jacob Adolph Jensen was born October 21, 1895 in Benicia, California. When of age, he joined the Army and was employed as a skilled laborer at Benicia Arsenal. His father, Jacob Jensen Sr., was killed during a riot between striking Kullman-Salz Tannery workers and the Greeks who were brought in to perform the strikers' jobs. Mr. Jensen Sr. was employed at the Benicia Agricultural Works not at the tannery. The murder was by one of the Greeks and took place in December of 1902 when the son, Jacob, was 7 years old. His wife, Jeanette A Sievers Jensen, was left with seven children to raise on her own. Jacob married Juanita Alberta Gowell on April 8, 1928 in San Francisco. Jacob died 14 September 1988 at the age of 92 in Mendocino County, California, His wife died in December 1993. They are buried together at the Ukiah Cemetery in Mendocino. His parents are buried in the Benicia City Cemetery. Jacob served military time in St. Nazaire France and departed in February 1919. Jacob Jenson inscribed his name in two places while working in Powder Magazine 10.
