Description

This is an undivided postcard of the Benicia Arsenal Clock Tower and the waterway behind it. The postmark is 02/10/1907 in Berkeley and Benicia. The back is addressed to Mr. Howard W. Davis in Berkeley, CA. There is no message or postmarks. The card is published by Frank Stumm of Benicia. Howard Wetmore Davis ( is the child of Daisy (06/15/1863) and John Frederick Davis and was born in Benicia. Howard was born in Benicia 03/26/1884 and died 12/27/1955. He is buried in the city cemetery in Benicia. The locomotive seen in the distance is a 3001 Class A-1 steam engine built by Baldwin Locomotive Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in August 1902. It was serial number 20795 and operated by the Southern Pacific Railroad. It was retired on December 31, 1924, and scrapped at West Oakland on August 21, 1926.
