This is a poster for the celebration of the opening of the State Capitol after its restoration in the 1950s. The celebration was held on March 14th and 15th. There was a torchlight parade, a Govenor's ball, dancing, meeting of the California State Legislature, a luncheon, an Indian Village, the E. Clampus Vitas "Slippery Gulch", and concert. Costumes were encouraged. The poster is 10.5 x 14
On the back is a note from LeNoir Miller. She originally loaned (1975) this to Mr. Greg Burger who had a museum in the Depot on First St. When he closed he returned this poster to Lenoir and in 1984 she gave it to the Benicia Museum.Collection
