Scope and Content

Series of 8 posters created by Crocker First National Bank showing various "firsts" in California. They are in an envelope addressed to John O'Grady and postmarked 09/28/1954. The first one shows the First Newspaper in Monterey CA in 1846 and was called the Californian. The second one shows The First Cable Car in San Francisco in 1873. The third one shows the First Mint in 1854. The fourth one shows the First Lighthouse in 1854 fro Alcatraz. The fifth one shows the First Ship in 1775, the packet boat San Carlos. The sixth is the First Railroad in 1856 operated as the Sacramento Valley Railroad. The seventh is the first Post Office in 1849 in San Francisco. The eight is the First Capital in Monterey in 1849.
