Two B/W photographs originally under glass in a black wood frame with a gold inner edge. The photographs are glued to a mat board. Photo on the left shows an ornate seal press on a table with two drawers and papers to the right and left of press. Beneath the photo: "The press of the Great Seal of the State of California is in one of the small conference rooms on the first floor of the Early Capitol. The seal itself is in Sacramento. On one occasion, persons from Santa Rosa stole the Seal, hoping thereby to force the loction of the capital in that city, but to no avail." Photo on the right is described: "A forerunner of photocopiers employed a press, together with water-soluble ink and the moistening of the paper. As many as six or eight copies could be made."Collection
