B/W Photograph: Cannery blaze left Mrs. Thomas Van Horn and her 4-month-old baby temporarily displaced. Cannery had been closed since 1946 due to sardine shortage since 1946, but plans were nearly ready for reopening soon. Plant and machinery can be replaced at $500,000, probably next year. Fire controlled before Mrs. Van Horn's cottage burned. Night watchman "Yaqui" Joseph reported fire at 2:30 am.Collection
