Color Photograph: Entrance to Powder Magazine 10 built in 1857 to store 600 kegs of black powder.
Local tradition claims the eagle and cannon sculpture was possibly carved by John Gomo, master mason, but he did not arrive in California until 1859. It was most likely carved by Caleb Merrill or Peter Larseneur who were master masons for construction of Magazine 2, Magazine 10 and the Clock Tower.Collection
