Description

Two men in uniform lean against a vehicle that has the name "Hummer" written on the rear with five hawks. "L. to R. SGT W. Taylor and CPL Alec Brown. In November 1943 Colonel Paul Rutten, the Arsenal commander, grew tired of hearing complaints of how 'Arsenal- based' hawks were killing chickens and other small domestic animals in the local community. To correct the situation the Colonel assigned Sgt. Woodrow and Cpl. Brown to use short-range carbine rifles and 'carefully' thin out the hawk population. (No 'explosions' were noted on the Arsenal during the operation." B/W photo. Note: Woodrow is crossed out and W. Taylor written above.
