Slightly faded photo of a man with a long beard, glasses, and hat. Back of the photo states that it is from Photograph Gallery, M. Karras, Prop. located on 18 Third Street, Near Market, San Francisco, Cal. The front of the photo shows "Vaughan's" as the studio.
The photographer Hector William Vaughan (1827-c1878) started Vaughan's studio. In 1879 Sadie O Brown and Max Karras became proprietors of Vaughan's First Premium Photo Gallery at 18 Third St., SF CA. This photo was probably taken around the 1879/1880 period when Brown and Karras owned the studio and were using up the supplies left by Hector Vaughan.Collection
