B/W Photograph originally framed under glass in a black frame with gold trim. The photograph is glued on a mat board. The caption reads: "The Port of Benicia. This facility has always been an important business function of the community. In 1850 the Pacific Mail Steamship Company was the first large industrial enterprise in California, and Benicia became an active center for shipping. Today, the port activities emphasize the receipt of oil for the refinery. In the photograph, the tanker "Galveston" is shown tied at the pipeline. Carquinez Strait appears, with the bridge to the left, and a taker is tied on the Martinez side of the strait, where oil refining is a still larger activity than in Benicia."Collection
