This is a photo of a horse drawn float carrying a plow and a sign that reads "Uncle Sam and the B.A.W. bound for the Orient with Civilizing Implements". The BAW stands for Benicia Agricultural Works. There's a large statue of Uncle Sam in front and a man in uniform driving.
The flag looks like it has 35 stars. If so, then this would date the photo to 1863-1865.Collection
